Florida is The Sports Capital!!
This page consists of links to my favorite teams, and even a few that aren't my favorite, but hey, their home is in Florida so they deserve mention.
As a life long resident of Jacksonville, I can
tell you that the JAGUARS are more than a football team. It is the happy ending of a 14
year dream to bring professional football to the area. It started when we tried to lure
the Colts to town when they moved from Baltimore... we tried to land the Cardinals, the
Saints, and a few others. God smiled on the patient and we got the JAGUARS. At the end of
their first season they were only 12-4 but, they quickly turned into a playoff team. They
have talent and depth... I'm not just speaking as a fan when I say there is no reason we
can't make it to the Super Bowl this year. Check out this awesome home page for the
JAGUARS.
Gainesville is home to the UNIVERSITY of FLORIDA GATORS! The incredible up and down history of the GATORS to a long time fan has been a great road to travel. From the Heisman winning years of Steve Spurior at quarterback, to the soft years of loosing annually in the Florida - Georgia game ( formerly know as 'the worlds largest outdoor cocktail party). Through the NCAA probations, then the start of a National Championship quest as Steve Spurior returned to coach his alma mater.
Speaking of
expansion teams coming out with a purpose! The team is in it's fifth year now, and
although not quiet as tough as maybe a few years ago, the PANTHERS are still quite
awesome. Hockey in Florida? Yes Virginia there is a Santa Claus.
Jacksonville is
home to the Lizard Kings playing host at the Reptilian Pavilion. Some hot local action,
and one hell of a cool commercial!!!!!
And let's not forget baseball.
The world Champion Florida Marlins! I must admit I am not a HUGE baseball fan, but,
isn't it grand to know that another young newcomer is in Florida.... and they hold the
World championship?!
The Braves... I can just barely
remember the days when we had no Florida Baseball and the Braves stunk. As a kid being a
braves fan was the natural way to go seeing as how Jacksonville is more of south Georgia
than it is a part of north Florida. I'll still have to favor the Braves over any other
team in Florida baseball.
The new kids in town... I have to
love em though, my kids played on the Devil Ray T-ball team last year!
Baseball's
never been hotter. This is a great page, and an exciting team to watch.
DAYTONA... Home of The DAYTONA 500, The Pepsi 500, The Bud Shootout, The Gatorade Twin 125's.. not to mention The 24 hours of Rolex. This truly is The World Center for Racing. NASCAR is the fastest growing spectator sport in the world and NASCAR is celebrating it's 50TH. year this year... and where did it all start??? DAYTONA, FLORIDA. Once again proving that Florida is the SPORTS CAPITAL OF THE WORLD! By the way... Brittney, the Jeff Gordon link is for you. Love ya!
THANK YOU for the new look!!! Growing up in Jacksonville as a kid, everyone was a Dolphins fan for the most part. Me being the true underdogs advocate, always pulled for the 'Bucs. That was back in the days of Leroy Selmin and Danny Williams... Still like the Buc's!
And a few that aren't my favorites, but they are in Florida and thus deserve notice
This is a cool site,
check it out.
They were great in the 70's, no other team has ever won
every game of the season, and How many rings does this team claim? But like I said I
always pulled for the Buc's.
F.S.Who?? Sorry... I
do have a lot of respect for Bobby Bowden, and F.S.U is yet ANOTHER Florida team that
holds a nation championship title, BUT they had to join the ACC to do it. This link is here for Jessica
Miami- what can I say, yet ANOTHER national champion
team.
First of all, I HATE basketball,
secondly this is one Hell of a cool site!
